Angel May Become Oldest in U.S. to Deliver Twins
Aleta St.
James to deliver twins tomorrow, three days before turning 57
Nov.
8, 2004 Aleta St. James, a highly publicized life coach and the
older sister of Guardian Angels Founder Curtis Sliwa, is about to gain
additional fame, when she gives birth to twins tomorrow just before her
57th birthday. She will not be the oldest woman to bear twins but will
be among a handful in the world who have delivered twins in their late
fifties.
St.
James, who is single, conceived through in-vitro
fertilization, and will
have a baby boy and girl at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, just three
days before her birthday. Although older women in other parts of the
world have delivered twins, she may become the oldest American to do so.
"The reason that I wanted
to carry these children rather than adopting them is that I knew that I
could give them - while they were in the uterus - a tremendous amount of
love, a tremendous amount of support. I wanted to give them that start,"
St. James told the New York Daily News Sunday while lying on her side on
her king-size bed in her apartment.
"I don't think of myself
with a number. I don't think, `Oh, I'm going to be 60.' I think, `I'm
going to take these kids to school,'" she added.
"Aleta
has had a successful pregnancy no different from that of a woman in her
thirties. With people living longer, staying healthier, and with the
many new advances in reproductive technology, having a baby in the
menopausal years is a viable option," said Dr. Jonathan Scher, M.D.
Obstetrician
She is also taking
advantage of the notoriety to promote her new book, Web site and her
technique for physical and emotional healing. She has had many
high-profile clients during the 25 years of her career. She has also
been an author and story subject for many leading newspapers and
magazines.
Her
professional and personal accomplishments serve as an example of life's
unlimited possibilities, says the news release she distributed today.
She says her success proves that anyone can achieve their dreams by
infusing them with persistence, faith and love.
The
release says her upcoming book outlines the life transforming techniques
she used to make her dreams and the dreams of countless others come
true.
Somewhere during her life journey from merchant seaman's daughter with
a psychic gift to actress to globe-trotting
healer-to-the-rich-and-famous, she changed her name. In her early
fifties now, she slightly resembles Victoria Principal, and pads around
barefoot, toenails painted Vamp, said an article in New York magazine in
1999.
There
is such a parallel between sickness and emotions, she told the
magazine. People's stuff backs up on them, and they have to learn to
deal with their emotions and not be debilitated by them."
"Never
give up on your dreams and desires; they lead you to your destiny," she
says.
Aleta
helped her brother, host of the WABC Curtis and Kuby Talk Show, launch
the nationally acclaimed crime prevention organization, Guardian Angels
in 1979.
