CEO of Maryland-based Erickson Retirement Communities, home for nearly 20,000 moderate-income people. Erickson has dubbed the network with TV Finally Grows
Up.
The original announcement in July said the
programming would target people 62 and older. The latest promotion,

There are currently 67 million people age 55 and over in the
United States and there will be 116 million by the year 2035. No other
demographic will grow at this rate, according to news reports. To date,
there is no national television network that specifically delivers to
this group, says Mel Tansill, Senior Director of Public Affairs for
Erickson.
Retirement Living, according to Tansill, will
demonstrate the great impact that television can have on the way society
perceives aging. It will bring the message that people particularly
those who are retired are empowered to control their own lives.
The
daily programming, which currently airs Monday thru Friday from 12 p.m.
to 4 p.m., will "inform, inspire, and involve the audience," the
company says.
Retirement Livings initial programming will
include the following shows:
● The Art of Living: A one-hour show that tells
stories about ordinary individuals and the extraordinary lives they
lead. Stories will focus on the creative lives that older Americans lead
as artists, athletes, leaders, and more.
● Healthline: A show that equips viewers with the
tools they need to take better control of their health care.
● The Voice: The worlds first interview-based
show that discusses social issues important to older Americans.
● The Informed Citizen: A show that provides
information that retirees want and need to make their choices in the
upcoming mid-term elections. The show focuses on specific Congressional
issues on aging, such as Medicare, prescription drugs and Social
Security. It is hosted by John Palmer, former NBC White House
correspondent.
● The Daily Apple: A show that insightfully
explores the notion of wellness in areas of personal fulfillment,
health, relationships, etc. Alexis Abramson, Ph.D., best known as the
expert Gerontologist for NBCs Today show, hosts The Daily Apple.
Shows focusing on personal finance, travel,
cooking, and fitness, specifically aimed at retirees, will also air..
Retirement Living will help to redefine the future
of cable television, says Tansill. We invite you to be a part of it.
