In the new radio ad, “Voices”, middle-class Americans of all ages remind Congress that Social Security did not cause the current economic meltdown and benefits should not be cut in the guise of “fiscal responsibility”.

Social Security has been the one secure income source for millions of retirees, the disabled and their families during this economic crisis and it has not contributed one penny to the deficit, according to NCPSSM.

Social Security events scheduled for the week of March 28th include:

   ●  Monday: News Conference/Rally with Senate Majority Leader Reid, other Senate leaders and Social Security beneficiaries

   ●  Tuesday: Radio campaign begins and National Call-in Day to Congress

   ●  Wednesday: NCPSSM Online Mobilization.  “We’ll tap into our large and growing communities on Facebook, Twitter and our blog ‘Entitled to Know’ in a number of ways to keep the pressure on,” NCPSSM adds.

   ●  Thursday: A new E-card to be delivered to the Senate “Gang of Six”.

   ●  Friday: the National Committee Truth Squad will wrap up the week to ensure our Congressional leaders know the facts about Social Security and our fiscal crisis.

The National Committee claims “a successful track record in protecting the Social Security benefits paid for by American workers and retirees including the fight to defeat President Bush’s proposals to privatize Social Security.”

NCPSSM adds in a news release, “By engaging and informing America’s seniors through similar ad campaigns, member mobilizations and grassroots efforts nationwide,  our members have said, loud and clear, they’re ready to fight against those in Washington willing to trade away the nation’s most successful government program.”

The National Committee says it is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization acting in the interests of its membership through advocacy, education, services, grassroots efforts and the leadership of the Board of Directors and professional staff. The work of the National Committee is directed toward developing better-informed citizens and voters. http://www.ncpssm.org
