Texas, California are Leaders in Medicare Drug Program Enrollment

State-by-state results released

Feb. 24, 2006 - Texas leads the nation in the number of senior citizens who have enrolled in stand-alone Medicare drug plans but California is the run-away leader in total enrollment and in those getting drug coverage through Medicare Advantage programs, according the state-by-state results on Medicare prescription drug program enrollment, which were released yesterday by Health and Human Services.

Florida is a distant second in total enrollment and Wyoming is dead last of the fifty states. The chart above shows the top ten states in total enrollment but a list of all states ranked by enrollment is below.

The total enrollment, through February 11, is just over 25 million, according to HHS.
