Marriott Senior Living Services’ Short Stay Program Meets Growing Demand For Temporary Care, Housing

WASHINGTON, D.C.,  07/30/2001 -- Marriott Senior Living Services announced today the introduction of a unique Short Stay Program that offers temporary residential care and housing for seniors at 150 locations nationwide. Rates start as low as $110 per day and include three meals -- prices vary by location and required level of care.

Designed for stays of a week to several months, Marriott Senior Living Services’ Short Stay Program offers a variety of senior living and assisted living communities complete with tastefully furnished suites, qualified personal care assistance and medication management, housekeeping, scheduled transportation and social activities.

The Short Stay Program is an excellent solution for family members and caregivers that must temporarily suspend their normal routine of providing assistance to an elderly parent or relative. The Short Stay Program also provides quality care for seniors recovering from illness or surgery, and can serve as a useful transition step between the hospital and home.

"With today's busy lifestyles, we are seeing a growing demand for short term housing and care for seniors," said Jeff Ferguson, executive vice president, Marriott Senior Living Services. "Finding the right accommodations and services is very important, and our communities are uniquely equipped and staffed to handle the needs of these special guests. We also provide an outstanding value when compared to other temporary housing alternatives."

Rates for Marriott's Senior Living Services Short Stay Program vary depending on location and level of care. The daily rate for Assisted Living care ranges from $100 to $160. Special Care programs are also available at some communities for seniors with Alzheimer's and related memory disorders, with rates ranging from $160 to 185 per day. The Short Stay Program is based on space availability and the guest's ability to meet the community's admissions criteria.

Sample Short Term Stay Rates/Communities:

-- Brighton Gardens of Cincinnati, Ohio
    $110-140 per day (Assisted Living)

-- Brighton Gardens at Friendship Heights (Bethesda, Md.)
    $150 per day (Assisted Living)

-- Brighton Gardens of Bellevue, Wash.
$160 per day (Assisted Living) / $185 per day (Special Care)
