Ivanhoe.com
was launched as a logical extension of Ivanhoe's television series,
Medical Breakthroughs and it features daily news on the latest
advances in medicine and over 4,000 archived reports for the benefit
of those searching for treatments by leading specialists from around
the country. Ivanhoe's medical reports are broadcast by television
stations reaching 80 million households five times a week.
Each day the site is updated with
additional medical news, and a search engine gives viewers the ability
to keyword search thousands of health reports in Ivanhoe's archive.
"Our Web site was designed to provide
people with access to the latest information on medical
breakthroughs," says Ivanhoe President, Marjorie Bekaert Thomas. "We
want the person who has just been diagnosed with a condition to be
able to visit our Web site and find information on the newest drugs
and procedures that might be available to him or her. Our new topic
channels will let them find this information quickly and from a
trusted resource."
Ivanhoe, founded in 1982, claims to be
the country's largest news gathering organization covering medical
breakthroughs, family health and issues important to women.
Every day they produce reports for three
television series: Medical Breakthroughs, Prescription: Health and
Smart Woman
In January 1996, they launched
www.ivanhoe.com, which has earned recognition from
U.S. News & World Report,
the Los Angeles Times,
Achoo On-Line Healthcare Services, America Online, Prodigy and
CyberGuide, as well as a number of national health associations. In
2002, it
was
named a finalist for the third annual Online Journalism Awards by the
Online News Association and the Columbia Graduate School of
Journalism. |
