Baby Boomers and Senior Citizens may want to take advantage of Cyber
Monday by latching on to two new fitness videos by Jane Fonda, still
great to look at as she nears age 73. Two videos by the two-time Academy
Award winning actress and fitness pioneer who first coined the term
"workout" in the 1980s will be released tomorrow and can be purchased
today at Amazon.
Since 1982,
Fonda has released over 20 top selling fitness videos, with her first
video release selling over 17 million copies and is the highest selling
fitness video of all time. She has been on hiatus from the fitness
scene since 1995.
“Only this time
she’s traded her legwarmers, belted leotard and ‘Feel the burn’ rallying
cry for a new hip, a new knee and advice on aging gracefully.
“Fonda’s first
at-home workouts in 15 years, Jane Fonda: Prime Time Walkout and Jane
Fonda: Prime Time Fit & Strong will be released Tuesday, nearly three
decades after Jane Fonda’s Workout, which she says is still the
best-selling fitness video of all time.
“Fonda, who
turns 73 in December, has also left high-impact aerobics behind. She’s
targeting baby boomers with these kinder, gentler workouts.”

“I’m very
excited to be back in the fitness business,” Fonda told
People Magazine.
“I know from
experience and from my research how critical it is for boomers and
seniors to be physically active. Even if they’ve never exercised in
their lives, now’s the time and my programs are a good, safe way to do
it.”

Fonda says these
videos are not just aimed at baby boomers and senior citizens, she also
hopes to inspire “people who think that they are too far unfit to get
fit again.”
These new
fitness DVDs show how staying active is the key to aging successfully by
offering fun, safe and effective workouts that strengthen and tone
muscles, improve brain and body functions and support overall health and
well being, according to the distributor, Lionsgate Entertainment..
"We are so
thrilled to be in business with Jane, a truly iconic figure in the world
of fitness. Jane's message is that the key to aging successfully is
staying active and we are so pleased to provide her fans with brand new
workouts they can do at home," said Anne Parducci, Lionsgate Home
Entertainment..
"I feel I'm at
the right stage of life to get back into the Fitness business and pass
on all that I've learned about being fit over 50," said Fonda.
“Staying active
has been my key to aging successfully. Regular exercise not only burns
calories, it also dramatically improves both body and brain functions.
My Fit & Strong DVD includes two 25-minute workouts that will burn fat,
tone and shape every major muscle group and strengthen your core. Make a
habit of doing these workouts and you’ll look and feel your best.”
Fonda told
MySanAntonio.com reporter Belasco,“I
thought, ‘You know something, I thought I would never, ever, ever do
this again, but I’m going to get back in because I’m old and I have
credibility in the fitness arena, and nobody ’s targeting this
demographic, and I’m the one to do it,’” Fonda said in a conference call
from her ranch in New Mexico.
Fonda
spent the past several years researching and writing her upcoming book
on aging, Prime Time: Creating a Great Third Act, due out next fall,
reports Belasco.
“When
you get older, it becomes mandatory to stay physically active because if
you don’t, almost every part of your physical being is going to be
impacted negatively — your bones, your muscles, your heart, your lungs,
your vascular system and your brain,” Fonda said.

More
than two decades later, Jane still looks incredible at age 72. Svelte
and beautiful, she walks onto the stage with the same energy and grace
she displayed decades ago.
"Do you feel as great as you look?"
Oprah asks.

getting better!" More than two decades later, Jane still looks

Veteran actress
Jane Fonda is planning to
tie the knot for the fourth time with music producer
Richard Perry. The Oscar
winner, who underwent a surgery earlier this month after doctors
discovered a small "non-invasive" tumour, is overwhelmed by Perry's
devotion to her during her health struggle and decided to exchange vows
next year, reports contactmusic.com.
Jane Fonda is doing well
following a recent cancer scare.
The actress, 72, is "completely
fine," according to People. Doctors found a small tumor during a checkup
a few weeks ago, but the cancer was non-invasive. Fonda underwent a
procedure this week to remove the tumor.
"She's 100 percent cancer-free,” her
rep said. "She's completely fine and it's business as usual for her."
Fonda confirmed the good news on her blog. "I had a scare with a
non-invasive breast cancer but it is All Out Now!!!" she wrote. "I am so
lucky. We got it early and it was... non-invasive. I want to thank my
friends and fans who have written beautiful letters. It has meant a lot
to me."
The fitness guru is currently
promoting her new line of Primetime Fitness DVDs, as well as preparing
for a relaunch of her Fonda
Workout brand. –Amy
