March 15, 2004 - The oldest worker in the U.S., along with the 52 oldest worker located in each state, the District of Columbian and Puerto Rico, will be recognized in October as part of an annual campaign by Experience Works to raise awareness of contributions made by older citizens. Nominations are being solicited on their Website.

The honoree of the 2004 title will be announced during Experience Works Prime Time Awards week in Washington, D.C., October 5 - 9, 2004. To make a nomination - Click Here.

Experience Works is the country’s largest provider of mature-worker training and employment. They also will recognize top employers of senior workers as part of their national effort to raise awareness of the contributions made by older individuals and to break down barriers associated with the hiring of older workers.

“The Experience Works Prime Time Awards is a yearlong effort to honor mature workers as outstanding role models for a nation whose workforce is rapidly aging and whose businesses will soon face a shortage of skilled, reliable employees,” says Experience Works President and CEO Andrea J. Wooten.

To be considered as America’s Oldest Worker, applicants must work a minimum of 20 hours a week in paid employment. Applicants or the person nominating them must complete an application and submit it prior to the deadline of April 30th. The older worker with the earliest birth date who meets the criteria will be honored as America’s Oldest Worker. To receive a nomination form by mail, send a post card or note to Prime Time Awards, Experience Works, 2200 Clarendon Blvd. Suite 1000, Arlington, VA 22201, or call toll free, 1-866-397-9757. Workers may enter themselves or be nominated by an employer, family, or friends.

Dr. Russell Clark, 102, real estate developer and retired physician, was named the 2003 America’s Oldest Worker. Dr. Clark, who resides in Orem, Utah, spends his time managing an industrial park and other real estate investments, writing his life history, and volunteering when needed. All of the past America’s Oldest Workers have been over 100 years old and working almost full time at their professions.

Experience Works is a national, nonprofit organization that provides training and employment services for mature workers. Established in 1965 as Green Thumb, and renamed Experience Works in 2002, the organization reaches more than 125,000 mature individuals in all 50 states and Puerto Rico each year.
