This Senior Always Ready for Easter - Or Anything Else That Can Use Eggs

Christina Cooper, 78, who lives at Brooksby, an active, independent, retirement community in Peabody, MA, makes carousels, jewelry boxes , necklaces, baby carriages and lots more out of eggs.  She also makes various scenes inside the eggs; Wizard of Of, yellow brick road scene with Dorothy and the Scarecrow, Cinderella inside her coach, birds on benches on a snowy day , etc.

While many are made for her friends and family, she also sells eggs to people.  Recently, she made a necklace for another resident so he could give it to his wife for Christmas.

“I started about five years ago and just love making them,” said Cooper.  “There’s no greater feeling than watching the person’s expression when I give them their egg.”

Cooper also assists with teaching an egg art class every few months at Brooksby.  Her instructor comes to Brooksby and Christina assists her with teaching other residents the art of decorating an egg.

In the past five years, Cooper has decorated over 50 eggs.  And if one breaks…“I’ll make another one,” said Cooper.  “It’s only an egg.”
