HandiRecords is Handy Checkbook-Size Information Organizer for Senior Citizens, Caregivers

Necessary medical, insurance, contact information organized in one easy-to-access location

May 26, 2007 - HandiRecords, a checkbook-sized paper organizer, enables senior citizens, baby boomers and caregivers to easily record, store and communicate critical medical information to healthcare providers. HandiRecords fits easily into a purse or pocket, making it accessible and readily available for updating. Its pen and paper design appeals to users who prefer non-digital storage methods.

An aging population with increased visits to specialized healthcare providers and unscheduled emergency room visits requires accurate and contemporaneous medical information.

A baby boomer’s need to manage her parents’ medical information drove the creation of this simple, modular product line.

“When my parents came to live nearby, I assumed responsibility for communicating their medical histories and medication records to their healthcare providers. After one nerve-wracking trip to the emergency room, where I fumbled in identifying my mom’s current medications, I searched for a portable way to carry that kind of critical information with me,” says Ann Blanchard, founder of Blanchard Enterprises.

Features of HandiRecords

HandiRecords was designed to offer the following benefits:

Portability - HandiRecords Classic or the HandiRecords Deluxe Tri-Fold is the size of a checkbook (3”X6”) and can easily be stored in a purse or pocket. Easy portability keeps vital medical information handy to the consumer, caregiver, and medical provider. Its immediate access also allows for quick updates in the doctor’s office, hospital, or emergency room.

Flexibility with HandiRecords Classic or Deluxe Tri-Fold Options –HandiRecords, which comes with eight fun, funky cover choices, can be used in two different ways. HandiRecords Classic is HandiRecords in a clear plastic cover.

For the user wanting to custom design their product, the HandiRecords Deluxe Tri-Fold offers buyers the option of adding one or two additional selections to the basic HandiRecords product, all housed in a Tri-Fold.

Additional choices include a calendar, address book, shopping list, scratchpad, or golf record.

Individuality with HandiRecords Tuckables —to meet a wide range of consumer needs, HandiRecords Tuckables are individual information cards used for additional family members’ data or as inexpensive refills. They tuck securely inside the HandiRecords Classic or Deluxe Tri-Fold.

The two different information cards summarize each user’s current medications and medication history; or their medical history, surgeries, hospitalizations, medical procedures and diagnoses. These removable cards are ideal for quick reference by medical providers and easy updates by the consumer.

Insurance Card Storage With HandiRecords Card Holders – To complete the product line, HandiRecords also offers a Six-Card Holder that sits inside the HandiRecords Classic or Deluxe versions. The clear plastic HandiCard Holder has room to carry up to six medical or dental insurance cards, Medicare cards, State IDs, or vision coverage cards.

“When I did my research and couldn’t find anything on the market to address this important need, I created HandiRecords.”

Starting with the checkbook-sized HandiRecords, Blanchard added removable medical history and medication information cards called HandiTuckables, along with a HandiCard Holder to carry insurance cards.

By using the full range of HandiRecords products, all necessary medical, insurance, and contact information is organized in one easy-to-access location.

The HandiRecords product line is very reasonably priced; with the HandiRecords Classic priced at $7.99, while the customer-designed Deluxe Tri-Fold is priced from $10.99 - $12.99. HandiTuckables are priced at $.99 each and the HandiCard Holder is $2.49.

About Blanchard Enterprises

Suburban Chicago-based Blanchard Enterprises was founded in 2005 by Blanchard. After her parents moved nearby, Ms. Blanchard started managing their medical care and business affairs. When she couldn’t find an existing product to address her caregiver’s recordkeeping needs, she created the HandiRecords system. She refined and tested the idea for more than a year before settling on the final version of the HandiRecords product line.

In addition to providing products that solve problems, Blanchard Enterprises is committed to contributing to the community through an innovative fundraising plan for non-profits. The company will donate 20% of sales (excluding tax) to non-profits organizations registered on the site. Non-profits can encourage their members and friends to purchase products to increase their donation amount.
