TV-Now Provides Entertainment and Tools Seniors Will

Their
50-pack classic movie packages grabbed our attention
By Tucker Sutherland, editor
May 26, 2005 I had never heard of the Website
until TV-Now.com placed an ad with SeniorJournal.com. What grabbed my
attention was the headline on their ad Classic Mystery TV. I had to
take a look and found the site a treasure for senior citizens who enjoy
movies and television entertainment.
Clicking the link took me to a list of all the
classic mystery movies playing this month on television, along with the
networks carrying them. Then, too, all the stars are highlighted and a
click will take you to all of their movies on TV for the month.
The site has been on the Web since 1994, but one of
their newest additions is the marketing of gigantic classic movie
collections at a very low price.
The
DVD Mystery Pack they market from the link on SeniorJournal.com contains fifty
digitally re-mastered quality mysteries, including the Frank Sinatra
thriller "Suddenly," as well as the film classics "Detour" and "Impact."
William Powell, John Garfield, Glenn Ford, Boris Karloff, Lizabeth
Scott, Orson Welles, Robert Young, Peter Lorre and Donna Reed are just
some of the actors who play whodunit in the fifty tales. Added value
comes from detective flicks featuring Sherlock Holmes, Dick Tracy, Nancy
Drew, Bulldog Drummond, The Shadow and Mr. Wong. The amazing thing is
the whole bundle costs just $28, plus a shipping charge of $4.
The also offer a Hollywood Legends collection.
Never has one collection contained so many great classic films filled
with so many dazzling actors, they say. The 12 double-sided DVDs have
50 movies. Stars featured in the set include Barbara Stanwyck, Bette
Davis, Cary Grant, Susan Hayward, Frank Sinatra, Fred Astaire, Gary
Cooper, Ginger Rogers, Gloria Swanson, Montgomery Clift, Gregory Peck,
John Wayne and many more.
But
what will catch many a senior eye is the Classic Western Movies set that
is sure to bring back memories of the Saturday matinees and nickel
popcorn. There is plenty of Roy Rogers and Gabby Hayes but they have
them all - John Wayne, Gene Autry, Tex Ritter, Randolph Scott, Bob
Steele and more.
Although those classic movie collections caught my
attention, there is plenty of other interesting, helpful stuff on
TV-Now. A feature I thought was great is the television star search. The
user enters the name of a star and the Website tells about all the
television movies or appearances scheduled for that star. They monitor
the TV appearances for over 5,300 stars each month.
They have many other television program searches, like the Four Star
search that comes up with all the four star movies playing during the
month.
A daily feature is Prime Time TV Picks, where the
editors provide a review of what they consider the best shows for the
day.
The also publish entertainment columns and
celebrity interviews among their contents. Managing Editor Tony Bray is
currently working on an interview with Dennis Weaver that he expects to
publish next week. Once an interview is published it stays on their site
and viewers can find interviews with many of their favorite stars.
Below are the big classic movie and television
collections that you can click the title and check out yourself.
