Betty White Biography in Comic Book Format Sells Out
in Less Than Day
Senior citizens may be snapping up biography in
format they remember as kids

Betty White, 88 years old, has been the pride of senior citizens as
fans of clamored for more of her performances. Hosting “Saturday Night
Live” may have been the pinnacle of this renewal until now. Today’s big
news is her biography published in comic book form – a format warmly
remembered by her senior fans - has sold out in less than a
day.
Bluewater
Productions, publisher of the biography comic book featuring her life
story, has announced, however, that Female Force: Betty White
will soon be out in a second printing.
"There are still
issues available in some stores and through various online venues, but
we are truly amazed at Ms. White’s enduring appeal and how this book has
performed," said Bluewater president Darren Davis.
"We sincerely
hope that we’ve delivered a product worthy of her stature and one that’s
appreciated by her considerable fan base."
The title,
written by Patrick McCray and penciled by Todd Tennant, joins several
other "Female Force" issues that have quickly sold out including issues
featuring Hillary Clinton and Ellen DeGeneres.
The 32-page book
retails for $3.99.
Writer McCray, a
veteran of the comics industry, traces White's amazing showbiz career
from her days providing voice talent for the radio show Blondie
to her return to sitcoms in Hot in Cleveland.
"Working on the
Betty book was an honor and a blast," McCray said. "While covering a new
entertainer is always fun, there is something special about profiling an
icon. Not only did it allow me to savor nostalgia, it also let me catch
up on areas of pop culture that had passed me by."
The artist,
Tennant, is a veteran of the art world. Tennant is a professional
illustrator with 31 years of experience. He dove into the world of
comics about 10 years ago. He runs his own online King Kong
vs. Godzilla comic series, and is
the co-creator of the graphic works King Komodo and Gigante.
"I remember
seeing Betty White and her hubby Allen Ludden on reruns of the original
Password program after
school as a kid, and grew very fond of them even then," Tennant said.
"Betty White as

show will always stand out as my strongest and fondest memory of her.
Needless to say, I was happy to be given the opportunity to attempt
illustrating Betty's fascinating personal life and her prolific career."
"We are working
diligently to get a second printing in the queue as quickly as we can,"
Davis said.
"We are even
planning to give it a new, variant cover by Adam Ellis. We encourage
people call their local comic book stores and order the 2nd printing."
Part of the
proceeds from Female Force: Betty White
will be donated to the actress’s favorite charity GLAZA (Greater Los
Angeles Zoo Association). White was named chairman of the 65,000 member
non-profit dedicated to nurturing wildlife and the well-being of animals
in September.
"We are pleased
that Ms. White has given the book her blessing and we are proud to
support her charitable work," said Davis said. "With this sellout, we
can definitely make a bigger donation to GLAZA."
Female Force: Betty White
traces the career of the veteran actress and comedian. Once tabbed as
Hollywood’s "it girl," White has become a fixture and icon in Hollywood.
The issue covers sixty over astounding years including the unprecedented
and highly-successful grass-roots Facebook campaign to get her to
host "Saturday Night Live."
Betty White has
starred in dozens of television shows including "The Mary Tyler Moore
Show," "The Golden Girls" and most recently "Hot In Cleveland." She has
won seven Emmy awards.
Bluewater first
published the
Female Force
titles in 2008 as a broad examination of strong and influential women
who are shaping modern history and culture. In past issues, the monthly
