recognized for exceptional quality of life and care of residents

2003 - A list of nursing homes selected as "Top Perfomers" in the U.S.
was released this month by
CareScout (www.carescout.com),
a company that says it is "dedicated to empowering Americans with cost
savings and quality of care information on nursing homes, assisted
living facilities, and home health agencies nationwide."
The
criteria was for
quality of care performance ratings for government certified nursing
homes in the United States. Updated quarterly, CareScout assigns
ratings to nursing homes by evaluating government inspection records,
quality of life data, and other objective resident care information
for all certified facilities.
In announcing these ratings, CareScout
recognized a select number of nursing homes throughout the United
States for earning a "AAA" current state rating in its latest ratings,
the company's top performer designation, and having maintained a four
year historical mark of consecutive "AAA" current state ratings. Of
the 16,400 government certified nursing home facilities in the United
States, only 151 received CareScout's highest honor.
CareScout's ratings designations include
"AAA", "AA", "A", "B", "C", and "D" To receive CareScout's "AAA"
current state rating, nursing homes must meet exceptional quality of
life and care requirements, maintaining full compliance with all
eldercare laws and regulations, and be free of any health deficiencies
as noted by state and federal officials during the nursing home's most
recent unannounced inspection survey.

Selection Criteria and Methodology
To determine its proprietary nursing home ratings and rankings,
CareScout interprets and processes detailed state and federal
inspection reports, and data from the Joint Commission on
Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Each government certified
facility is evaluated and compared based upon objective,
resident-focused inspections that monitor the quality of life and care
of its residents. Violations and standards are weighted and the scope
and severity of infractions are considered to distinguish their
relative effect on the quality of hands-on care provided to residents.
Facilities achieving a "AAA" rating had no nursing home violations
(i.e., no health deficiencies) during their most recent inspection
survey, and have maintained a "AAA" rating for four consecutive years.
