Senior Citizens with Advice for Others are Needed by
Book Editors
Here is your chance to tell a slice of your life
that can help others
September 6, 2006 Senior citizens who think they
have an important lesson or sage advice to share with others - you
seldom meet one who doesn't - may have a
chance to get it published in a book. Frank Miles and Dave Eagan are
trying to compile an anthology of such autobiographical stories written
by seniors.
This project has been in the works for nearly two
years, reports Egan, and says the editors have a firm commitment from
the publisher to go to press next summer.
"We expect the book to be in bookstores by the
third quarter of 2007," Egan said.
The book's title is "I Didn't Get Old Being Stupid:
Wisdom for Life's Journey From Those Who've Made The Trip."
Eagan says they are looking for submissions in
narrative form (no poetry), which should be approximately 300-700 words
in length. Potential authors needn't be accomplished writers. "We can
assist with editing stories that offer a solid core, but may need
polishing before publication," he says.
He also says seniors are free to enlist a friend or
family member (of any age) to ghost write their story. Submissions from
both sources are equally welcomed.
"Our budget isn't large," Egan says, "but we are
offering $100.00 and a copy of the book's first edition in return for
every story that is accepted for publication."
At their Website, prospective storytellers can find
more information, including samples of the types of stories they want to
receive.
