Dec. 12, 2004 - Police in Newport Beach,
California, are searching for a retired couple – Thomas and Jackie Hawks
- that have been missing since Nov. 15.
Family members reported them missing after the
couple recently sold the boat they lived on, Newport Beach police said.
The Orange County Register
story, says Thomas Hawks, a retired Arizona probation officer, and
his wife, Jackie, spent much time traveling on the boat between Newport
Beach, San Diego and San Carlos, Mexico, according to Sgt. Steve Shulman.
Though the couple claimed residency in Prescott, Ariz., they recently
resided on the boat, berthed in the area of 15th Street and Balboa
Boulevard. The couple sold the boat in mid-November and that was the
last time they spoke to family members, who said the Hawks had no known
Thanksgiving plans, Shulman reported.
Police do not suspect foul play, but the family
told detectives it is unlikely the Hawks would go this long without
contacting someone. Reportedly their credit nor bank cards have not been
used since they disappeared. The Hawks own a 1998 Silver Honda CRV with
Arizona license plates, 774CPE, and could be traveling in the car,
Shulman said. The police are holding the boat as evidence.
Anyone with information about the
couple is asked to contact police at (800) 550-6273.
