Debate
from
Senior's
Viewpoint

One
thing
interesting
about
the
Vice
Presidential
debate
was
that
senior
issues
-
Social
Security
and
Medicare
drug
coverage
received
less
attention
that
in
the
first
Presidential
Debate.
Seniors,
however,
had
to
be
proud
of
how
our
two
representatives
on
the
ballot
-
Dick
Cheney
and
Joe
Lieberman
-
conducted
themselves.
Cheney
was
certainly
more
articulate
than
his
presidential
running
mate
and
did
not
have
to
rely
on
quips
and
clichés
to
stay
in
the
discussion.
Lieberman
was
much
more
relaxed
than
his
running
mate
and
-
maybe
not
more
articulate
-
but
easier
to
listen
to
and
believe.
If
there
was
one
performance
area
where
Lieberman
clearly
got
the
better
it
was
in
television
style.
He
looked
into
the
camera,
while
Cheney
was
usually
looking
at
the
table
or
the
moderator.
We
all
prefer
people
who
look
us
in
the
eyes.
There
is
no
question
that
the
public
"liked"
these
two
senior
citizens
better
than
the
presidential
candidates.
An
there
is
no
doubt
the
presidential
candidates
will
learn
from
this
and
improve
their
styles
in
the
next
debate.
The
bottom
line
is
that
our
senior
guys
did
good.
