Crest Introduces New Toothpaste and Brush It Claims are Revolutionary

August 2000 - A major concern for many citizens is care for their teeth and Crest claims to have a new toothpaste and brush with  technological innovations designed to help keep teeth and gums clean and healthy.

With breakthrough "micro-cleansing crystals," Crest MultiCare Advanced Cleaning toothpaste cleans significantly better and provides longer-lasting protection from stains and tartar buildup than any other Crest toothpaste. Crest, which patented the use of this ingredient, is the only brand to offer this technology.

With its innovative dual-bristle design, the new Crest Advanced Care toothbrush helps consumers maintain healthy gums. Unique "Massaging Tips" - soft, rubber-like bristles - surround multi-level nylon cleaning bristles allowing consumers to massage their gums every time they brush.

"Our scientists worked for nearly five years to perfect these technologies," said William Landrigan, Manager, Global Professional Scientific Relations in Oral Care for Procter & Gamble, the maker of Crest. "Now consumers can benefit from these innovative products from Crest designed to give them an excellent clean to help maintain overall good oral health."

Polypyrophosphate & Crest MultiCare Advanced Cleaning Toothpaste

Polypyrophosphate - in the form of micro-cleansing crystals - is the most advanced tartar-fighting ingredient found in Crest toothpaste today. It effectively removes stains and helps prevent tartar buildup on the tooth's surface and in hard-to-reach places, and also adheres to teeth to help protect against future stains and tartar buildup.

"Our top researchers and scientists worked hard to meet the challenge of formulating a toothpaste that provides both outstanding cleaning on contact and protection against stains and tartar buildup," said Michael Britt, Section Head, Oral Care Product Development at Procter & Gamble. "And, what's especially unique about this ingredient is that many consumers can actually feel the micro-cleansing crystals work as they brush, and their mouths feel clean and fresh long after they've brushed. In fact, many consumers who have used new Crest MultiCare Advanced Cleaning toothpaste told us they never believed their teeth could feel so clean."

Massaging Tips & Crest Advanced Care Toothbrush

The uniquely designed "Massaging Tips" on the new Crest Advanced Care toothbrush can help maintain healthy gums by improving the circulation in your gums as you brush. Crest Advanced Care is the only brush on the market to combine these unique soft, rubber-like "Massaging Tips" with nylon bristles to both clean your teeth and help your gums every time you brush.

"Maintaining healthy gums is a real challenge for many consumers," said Dan Volpenhein, Senior Scientist of Oral Care Product Development for Procter & Gamble. "The Crest Advanced Care toothbrush provides the dual benefit of increasing circulation in the gums with unique massaging tips while helping to thoroughly remove daily plaque build-up from teeth and sweep away plaque along the gumline."
