Good News for Migraine Sufferers - Whitehall-Robins Announces  Advil(R) Migraine

MADISON, N.J., April 26, 2000 - Whitehall-Robins Healthcare has begun shipping Advil(R) Migraine, the only Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved migraine medicine in a liquid-filled capsule.

Advil Migraine was approved by the FDA on March 17th. "We are pleased to share the news of the FDA approval and availability," said Roger G. Berlin, M.D., president of Whitehall-Robins Global Scientific Affairs.

"Advil Migraine represents a unique and powerful product for the over-the-counter market and for the millions who suffer from migraine headaches each year." Advil Migraine liquid-filled capsules are manufactured under a patented process and contain a liquid solution of 200mg of ibuprofen in each capsule, which provides fast absorption of medicine into the body.

Advil Migraine is clinically proven to relieve the pain of migraine headaches and, like leading prescription migraine drugs, is indicated to relieve related symptoms such as nausea and sensitivity to light and sound. Importantly, Advil Migraine has also been shown to relieve even severe migraine pain.

"With Advil Migraine, patients are now able to treat their migraines with an over-the-counter product that is safe, effective and provides fast absorption of the medicine into the body," said Alexander Mauskop, M.D., director of the New York Headache Center. "I have been treating migraine patients for nearly twenty years and am glad to see that there is a product like Advil Migraine available for my patients."

Advil Migraine will be available over-the-counter in 20, 40 and 80-count sizes and will feature packaging and labeling specifically designed for migraine sufferers. Unlike Motrin Migraine, which was also recently approved by the FDA for migraine pain, Advil Migraine is available in liquid-filled capsules and is approved for the relief of related symptoms of migraines such as nausea, sensitivity to light and sound, which often accompany migraines. Unlike Excedrin, Advil Migraine does not contain caffeine.
